Learn the art of traditional Thai massage from highly regarded instructor Chuck Duff in weekend training courses at the Thai Bodywork School of Thai Massage in Evanston, Illinois.
Thai Bodywork is an NCBTMB approved provider for continuing education in massage, and accredited by IPTA and WPTA for CE in physical therapy in IL and WI. Our program, one of the most complete in the country, is structured as modular weekend intensives, and is totally focused on professional certification in traditional Thai massage (over 350 hours of training available). We do not provide general education toward western massage licensure. Save your hands and extend your career with this ancient Asian bodywork art. Traditional Thai massage, evolving from the ancient healing traditions of Ayurveda, yoga and Thai Buddhism, leads to greater physical awareness, grace and spiritual energy. The practitioner uses hands, feet, arms and legs to guide the recipient through a series of yoga postures involving fluid movements, gentle stretching and breath work. Both therapeutic, relaxing and invigorating, Thai massage typically commands a 15-20% premium over conventional treatments on spa menus, and skilled therapists are in high demand. Properly trained Thai bodyworkers learn how to use their core energy and body weight to do the work instead of muscle strength. It is an old adage that Thai massage should be as good for the giver as for the receiver. Therapists can have long working careers without the disabling symptoms in hands, arms and shoulders that so frequently occur in western bodywork modalities. Chuck Duff, founder, and a faculty member of Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, is an internationally known Thai massage teacher and therapist. He has studied with teachers in the USA, Canada and Thailand and is also certified in Thai Herbal Compress (Luk Pra Kob) by the Thailand Ministry of Health, Bangkok. He is the producer of the highly regarded Thai Bodywork DVD Series. His teaching draws on extensive studies in Buddhism, martial arts, yoga, psychology and movement. His teaching draws consistently superior ratings from students. "Chuck Duff is no ordinary teacher... his command of the hundreds of Thai techniques is flawless..." -- Denise A., RN, student
Chuck is the originator of HandsFree Thai Massage, which allows practitioners to work safely on any size clients, and Clinical Thai Bodywork, a powerful therapeutic modality for chronic and acute pain and dysfunction.
