The Learning Environment

Our class sizes are limited to 16 people and usually run between 6 and 14. This allows for a great degree of personal attention and feedback. We use many learning aids and tools in our comfortable classrooms (which have incredible views!).

MountainHeart requires all our instructors to be fully educated and experienced in their field. All instructors of our CMT courses are familiar with the entire program to ensure the quality of our highly integrated approach to learning. These instructors are also educated in the art of learning and teaching to be able to best meet each student's individual needs.

Schedule

Our 6 month, 850 hour CMT program begins twice each year:
Beginning late November (after Thanksgiving) and ending in late May
Beginning in late May (after Memorial Day) and ending in mid-November

Financial

Students pay tuition on a class by class basis after a 10% deposit. MountainHeart offers other payment plans and loan programs for those who qualify. Students can also enjoy using the career loan from Sallie Mae that we are approved for. Personally designed options may be explored with qualifying students.

Housing

MountainHeart provides assistance in finding housing situations that suit your needs. Crested Butte has many housing options every spring and fall, before we start classes. We will e-mail you information that we gather around town as well as direct you to the website for the classified section of the local newspapers.

Everyone who has decided to come here for school has been able to find housing that worked for them!

Jobs / Employment

Most of our students work while in school. Crested Butte has many job opportunities for part-time work that can be scheduled around school. All of our students, who have wanted to find work, have been able to. In this small friendly town, business owners have come to love our students as employees. 850 Hour Massage Therapy Certification Program (Core Program)

MountainHeart offers one of the most current, comprehensive and integrated massage therapy programs available. This program integrates the leading trends in massage therapy today: clinical neuromuscular therapy, somatic mindbody therapy and effective Swedish massage. Our CMT program exceeds the current national average in massage therapy education in order to start the therapist at the leading edge of the profession. It includes many advanced massage therapy skills not usually taught in beginning-level training.

Our massage therapy program prepares you for work in any setting with an integrated and thorough education in the following areas of study: efficient and effective Swedish massage, relaxation and stress reduction, improved athletic performance, injury rehabilitation, medical massage, communication skills, personal transformation, oriental bodywork, energy medicine, applied kinesiology and therapy integration.

Located in a sports-oriented mountain town, our CMT program offers may ways for the student interested in sports to align his/her work towards spa and sports massage. All our courses will provide time and experiences to allow the individual student to address their own areas of interest as they integrate their studies during case studies and feedback times.

1000 Hour Massage Therapy Certification Program

This massage therapy program encourages students to select 150 hours or more of additional course work from our other programs or continuing education courses. This can be done while in the CMT program or after graduation.

Transformational Neuromuscular Therapy Certification Program

Included within our CMT Program, the T-NMT program provides an in-depth understanding of the theory and application of neuromuscular therapy. These courses combine a thorough and effective clinical/medical style neuromuscular therapy with a transformational movement therapy and a mindbody approach to stress and tension reduction.

This work allows the practitioner to aid clients in therapeutic situations such as: rehabilitating from injuries, healing and diminishing chronic pain, relieving chronic postural problems, and the enhancement of athletic performance and coordination.

Somatic MindBody Therapy Certification Program

Included within our CMT program, the SMBT program provides the information missing in many massage therapy programs. Students learn the theory and techniques of the stress reduction and healing the tissue imbalances found beneath our hands.

SMBT allows the therapist to facilitate healing on a deep and lasting level while maintaining a professional rapport with clients of all walks of life. Our physiological understanding of stress, psychoneuroimmunology and holistic healing provide a sound basis for the application of these techniques.
