Our Programs

The Boulder College of Massage Therapy offers a 1000-Hour Massage Therapy Certificate Program, an Associate of Occupational Studies in Massage Therapy Degree and Continuing Education courses through the Advanced Bodywork Studies Certificate program.

1000-Hour Massage Therapy Certificate Program (CMT)

BCMT students learn four hands-on modalities: Zen Shiatsu, Swedish Therapeutic Massage, Normalization of Soft Tissue, and Integrative Therapeutic Massage. These modalities are the cornerstone of our program. They are supported by coursework in the human sciences, psychology, ethics, and career development. In addition, we offer electives in other popular massage modalities and techniques.

Internship & Community Service Opportunities

As part of their experiential training, our students have the opportunity to apply their knowledge in a variety of work environments. We have internships with local hospitals, medical centers, university athletic departments, professional sports teams, local businesses, animal care facilities, world-class spas and many more. Last year BCMT students provided over 11,000 hours of free bodywork to members of the community. Our students give their time to hospitals, hospices, schools, athletic programs, elder care facilities, and other non-profit organizations.

Student Clinic Experience

The BCMT Student Clinic is well established in Boulder. Our clinic provides over 8,000 massage/bodywork sessions to the community each year. Equipped with 12 private rooms, students gain valuable hands-on experience while working with a wide range of clients in a professional and supervised setting.

Career Preparation

Our career development classes teach students the basics of running a successful private practice as well as the ins and outs of employment in the massage therapy industry. Students learn how to create a business plan, develop marketing materials, acquire clientele and manage day-to-day operations. Our graduates gain the knowledge and qualifications necessary to practice massage therapy in all 50 U.S. states and most countries. Upon graduation our students have everything they need to start employment or their own private practice.

Supportive Learning Environment

We believe that an optimal learning environment includes committed and caring faculty and staff, an academic tutorial program, and a broad range of teaching techniques that address different learning styles. We maintain a low student-to-teacher ratio so our students receive the benefit of personalized attention.

Associate of Occupational Studies (AOS) Degree in Massage Therapy

BCMT is one of the first massage therapy colleges in the US to offer an AOS in Massage Therapy Degree. This postgraduate training is offered exclusively to BCMT graduates, and allows students to choose a focused track of specialization, mastering techniques which are immediately applicable and beneficial to their clients. Graduates from BCMT's Certificate Program can acquire an AOS degree in as little as six months, part-time.
