Welcome,For over 55 years, Bancroft has been the leader in the massage therapy training field. As one of the oldest massage therapy schools in the country, our philosophy has remained the same: uncompromising dedication to training professional massage therapists. We strongly believe that in order to be a successful school we must continue to have a mission that is career oriented, have a practicing faculty in the massage therapy field, be keenly interested in student satisfaction, have innovative internships, have effective advising and career development support, have institutional self assessment, and continuing education. The school, its administration, and faculty have steadily grown and developed to become well-established in this dynamic health field. With combined teaching and massage therapy experience of over 200 years, students will learn from a diverse group of instructors as they proceed through the program. This gives the student a variety of approaches to the techniques being taught. Program DescriptionOur certification program is a well-planned series of courses, with each course supporting and expanding the student's understanding of massage therapy. It weaves in Western health models with a blend of Eastern approaches, and considers the need for students to experience personal growth and development, as well as developing sound techniques and theoretical background. If time is the most precious commodity you have, then getting the "benchmark" education is the key to spending your time wisely towards a career that will give you purpose and meaning. The school has classes to fit your individual schedules. Classes are held on Mondays and Thursdays and/or Tuesdays and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for 13 months, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for nine months, Wednesday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for 17 months. Please contact the school for start dates. Courses for the Certification Program:
This certification offers a 45.5 credit hour program and is approved by the Massachusetts Board of Regents of Higher Education for the training of veterans, and the Immigration and Naturalization Service for the training of non-immigrant students. Licensing and AccreditationBSMT is licensed by the Department of Education, Commonwealth of Massachusetts and is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology. An accredited school is one that has successfully passed through examination of its educational quality, teaching ability and administrative integrity by an accrediting agency by the United States Department of Education. An accredited school has consistently provided graduates that are successful in employment and occupational achievement. Career DevelopmentBSMT has a Career Development and Outreach office that is actively involved in career placement of the students and graduates. Career development is a very individual service; it is, therefore, the goal of the career planning office to act as a resource guide and source to match massage therapists with specific job situations. Once a job opportunity is matched, the career office offers additional counseling to students and graduates on interview techniques and negotiations. Financial AidFederal Financial Aid in the form of Pell Grants, Subsidized and Unsubsidized Stafford Loans and Parent Loans for Students (PLUS) are available to qualifying students. This aid is only available to students enrolled at least half time in the Massage Therapy Certification Program. Applications are accepted at any time, but no financial aid can be approved until an applicant is accepted as a student. All necessary documents for completion of the financial aid application must be received within one month of being accepted as a student. All forms are available through the financial aid office.
