Promoting Peace One Body at a Time

Who We Are

The intent of the staff at ASIS Massage Education is to provide you with the space and education necessary to become holistic therapists. Through the practice of massage, we can also become aware of lifestyle and psychological patterns, which may be causing or perpetuating painful and limiting ways of being.

In this education, we explore human anatomy and physiology, and a wide variety of massage modalities, all while heightening our sensitivity to the human soul. In a safe, supportive, yet evocative setting, we wish to prepare you to meet the challenges you will face as contributing members of the health care system.

Within this framework, we explore the various ways that learning can take place. In our small classes (12 students max), we offer a variety of feedback opportunities for you to discover how you best learn. A blend of kinesthetic, audio, and visual tools are available to encourage insight into each individual's learning process.

We are dedicated to the path of world peace, compassion to all living beings, and to honesty. We believe it is essential that our work be nonviolent in nature, and that the goals of learning and therapy be yours, as the student, rather than the teachers. In keeping with this belief, it is our philosophy that there is a direct correlation between how we view ourselves and how we view others. So as we increase the awareness and kindness with which we meet ourselves, physically and psychologically, we enhance the sensitivity and kindness with which we meet our families, our communities, and our clients.

Educational Objectives

There are many ways in which learning and growth take place. We focus on three areas: development of knowledge and skills, professional preparation, and personal and communal growth. Our intention is:

  • To provide you with safe and supervised learning experiences, which promote your health and well being, as well as your clients.
  • To provide a thorough working knowledge of both the structure and function of the human body and the theories and practices of therapeutic massage modalities.
  • To prepare you to become qualified and technically skilled therapists.
  • To offer you the space and the opportunity to become more fully present in your own bodies/hearts/minds.
  • To model a professional attitude with a commitment to ethical practices toward clients and fellow practitioners.

As we become freer and happier, we cease to act in ways that make others suffer and we are able to bring about change around us and to help others become free.
- Thich Nhat Hanh

Where we are located

Our Prescott campus is located in historic downtown. Within walking distance, one can enjoy Prescott's unique blend of pioneer flavors and outdoor activities. These areas of Arizona are still blessed with untamed nature, miraculous skies and abundant wildlife. Within an hour's drive one can experience elevations ranging from 1,200 to 12,000 feet. Neighboring towns include Sedona, Jerome, Flagstaff, Payson and abandoned Anasazi villages.

At the ASIS, exploration of the fabulous local nature is periodically integrated into the curriculum.

Each one of us is seeking the inner happiness that comes not from outward accomplishments, but from the harmony of our inner being. What is life for, if not to make an effort to achieve a higher realization of consciousness?
